Signals, Analog & Digital Signals
What is Signal ?
Signal is define as a physical quantity, which contains some information & which is a function of one or more independent variable.
Types of signals:
1) Analog Signals
Analog Signal is define as the signal having infinite number of continuous values. They are un-interrupted signals which provides information that varies with time. In other word one variable is Analogous (similar) to other that's why it is called as Analog Signals
- It is denoted by sin waves as shown in figure below
- Analog signal uses a continuous range of values that help you to represent information
- It uses a continuous range of values that help you to represent information.
- Signal bandwidth is low
Examples of Analog Signal : We use analog signals in wide range of various appliances & application such as
- Temperature sensors
- FM radio signals
- Photocells
- Light sensor
- Resistive touch screen
- Sound System for sound amplification
- Audio Recording & Playback
