What exactly is 'data mining'?

Data means information and mining means extracting or extracting information. Data mining is the process of processing a piece of information and analyzing it in different ways to create a specific type of diagram.

And what is the purpose of data mining?

In statistics, there is a concept called ‘coefficient of correlation’. It examines the relationship between two things. If this coefficient is 0, then it means that there is no connection between the two. For example, if you look at the correlation (i.e. association) of how many books I read on which day I ate a food in a month, you get this coefficient almost 0.
Correlation means ‘associations.’ And finding or digging out some conclusions from large transactions means ‘mining’. This is called 'Association Rule Mining'. This became the type of data mining. Although the idea of association rules is still outdated, computer scientists Rakesh Agrawal , Tomasz Imielinski , Arun Swami invented an algorithm in the 1990's to find the relationship or association between them. After this it started to be used on a large scale.
The software makes the next decision by drawing conclusions from its previous purchase data. It involves a little bit of machine learning. Data mining is considered an important part of Business Intelligence (BI).
